FAQs about the FAQ

Will the FAQ be updated for Book 11, Knife of Dreams?

Yes.

What about the prequel novel New Spring?

Yes. The update for both the prequel and the new book will be done all at once.

Cool! Um, when will it be up?

Not for a while. First I have to collect KOD discussion, theories, trivia, etc. from the newsgroup, which usually takes a couple of months to die down after the release date. Then I have to do the update, which is a fairly gigantic task that I do in my spare time.

So, the answer is "it'll get done when it gets done." Or, I don't know how long it will take. But I promise to go as fast as I can.

Thanks! Now, what's the deal with the email?

NOW HEAR THIS: My pacbell email address is gone.

The pacbell address that's given for my email on most of the FAQ (except this page) is officially defunct. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL THAT ADDRESS ANYMORE, AIN'T NOBODY HOME.

But! Now I have a shiny new email address for you to send to: wotfaq @ gmail.com

Remove the spaces, obviously. All FAQ-related questions and inquiries may be sent to this address from now on.

I apologize for the lack of email responsiveness. I do try to answer most of the mail I receive regarding the FAQ, but unfortunately with the problems I've been having I've lost an awful lot of it. So if you have sent me an email regarding the FAQ in the last few months and have not heard back from me, feel free to send your email again, and I will do my best to answer.

Okay. And hey, I have lots of theories! Should I email them to you?

While I welcome comments or general questions about the WOTFAQ, I would prefer that you do not email theories to me.

The WOTFAQ is (almost) exclusively based on discussion in the Usenet group rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan, with the emphasis on "discussion". If you have a thought or theory about WOT that you think should be in the FAQ, you are invited to join the newsgroup and post your theory there. If it generates sufficient discussion and/or consensus, it will probably get added to the FAQ during the next update.

As a general policy, I do not accept or use theories which have not been thoroughly discussed in the newsgroup, so emailing them to me alone is basically a waste of your time.

The one exception to this rule is suggestions for the "Sources" section. If you have a real-world reference or parallel to WOT which is not in Section 3 of the FAQ, feel free to email it to me and I may include it next time around, though you can of course post it on the newsgroup instead.

(If you are unfamiliar with Usenet and newsgroups, this is a pretty good place to start.)

Got it. Now can I read this thing already?

Knock yourself out.

Enjoy, and thanks for reading the WOTFAQ!
