At the National Social in Las Vegas, in 1999, Mark Loy opined that it was about time for him to host a Social, and he proposed a New Year's Eve bash - on the Eve of the Millennium. Who could resist a party given by The Loy?
Not me. Neither could a couple dozen other souls brave enough to wander about in the glorious Midwestern Winter. (For miniscule values of glorious.) Not that the weather would have held most of us back in any case - if your only excuse for not coming was the weather, you're a wuss of enormous proportions, we shall mock you without mercy until the turn of the next Millennium. (IOW, you missed a great party, you pansy!)
I suspect this is the best chronicled Social to date. In addition to the photos here, taken by me and Leah Cole, you can find a few taken by Mike Kozlowski, Paul Khangure is supposed to send me a bunch once he returns to Oz, and Kenneth Cavness videotaped the collected Darkfriend antics. Those are just the ones I know of. If you took pictures, please drop me a line - I'd like copies, and will happily pay for the prints and mailing costs!
Of course, with every Social, there are reports and commentary. I've assembled various posts below, some reports, some commentary, some lists...
Leah's Quote List | Maggie's Rambling | How to Frighten the Parking Attendant | Hotel CalLoyFornicate | Novak Gave Good Lap | Pam Korda | Kenneth Cavness | Mike Kozlowski | Anne Willick | Pat O'Connell | Roy Ovrebo | Maggie
Obviously, if you wrote a Social report, list, song or commentary and want it here, send it along in .txt format, I'll put it up ASAP.
I'll bet you're looking for pictures, aren't you? Don't believe that Novak had every chick in the place on his lap? Wondering what the hell the Bondage Game is? Just want to laugh at the Bunny Ears?
Fasten your seatbelt...
