A couple years ago, on a whim, I picked up this nifty little paperback book entitled Good Omens. It caught my eye because it had Terry Pratchett's name on the cover - who doesn't love Terry Pratchett? There was also this Neil Gaiman fellow listed. The name sounded somewhat familiar, but I couldn't place it. Oh well.
I polished that book off on a long ride to Fort Knox, Kentucky, and went looking for more. This Gaiman guy really did a bang up job! Not long after that, I laid hands on a copy of Stardust. That was it, I was hooked. Who was this guy, how did he get to be so damned awesome and where could I find more of his stuff???
It was at about that time that Kenn asked me if I wanted to borrow his Sandman collection, and the name finally slid into place. This was the guy! The Sandman guy!! Last Spring, I finally sought out the newsgroup and I've been a happy little Thingie ever since.
Wait. What do you mean "What's a Thingie?"? You're kidding, right? Geez. Thingies are posters to alt.fan.neil-gaiman, super fun and very friendly newsgroup. Neil is aware of the group, and refers to it as "That alt.fan thingie"...and the name stuck. It's a fun place! Check out Michelle's Semi Monthly post, and the Beta FAQ, then come play in the Sandbox.
So now you're wondering what all the babbling is about. Well, I've decided that I ought to have a Neil/Thingie page. It's not going to be a comprehensive, "This is all the Neil stuff I have" sort of page, that just doesn't seem right for me. Instead, it's more of an "I really dig Neil and AFNG" page. Without further ado:
