Way back in December of '99, David and I were talking on ICQ, lamenting the fact that we were in the same state, but wouldn't be able to visit because of scheduling. Ah, holiday rush. So he told me how bored he was in Mentor and we grumbled about not even getting the chance to have lunch together...when he was struck with an idea.
He sent me a URL, followed by "Would you care to accompany me?" Curious, I followed the URL, wondering what it was. My mouth fell open when the page loaded - The US Figure Skating Championships, in Cleveland! Oh my! There was no way I could afford it, and I told him so. He said "Don't worry about it, I want you to go with me." So I said yes, excited that we'd see something we both enjoyed together! There's nothing like indulging in a favorite pastime with someone who loves it as much as you do!
I thought February was never going to come, but it finally did, and I met David in Cleveland for both the Ladies' Short Program and Ladies' Free Skate. My mission? To keep him from slipping in any puddle he might make over his major crush, Michelle Kwan. He just adores her - I have to admit, she's a lovely little thing, and a great skater!
We had a great time in Cleveland, both at the skating and elsewhere! I'm so glad we got the chance to spend the weekend enjoying each other's company!
