Drew should post his version, including most of the good quotes, which he scrawled down. Day 1 We were to meet at The Stars Our Destination, a local book store, at 5pm. Following Pam's instructions, I made it fine until the last step, where I got off the train, and had to work out which way was West. Luckily I had a compass, but I'm not sure how everyone else knew. I walked into the book store, and immediately picked out the bearded one - Novak. He, Pam and Jim Hill were there already, even though it was only 4.30pm. Flavio arrived shortly before 5pm, followed by John & Annette Dilick, Drew, Noell, Maggie, Steve and then Mark and Deb Loy. We had a full circle of 13. After browsing and purchasing, we moved to a nearby Ethiopian Restaurant which Novak recommended. Drew promptly demolished the "No Smoking" signs, while the rest of us took in the decor. On one wall was a colourful tapestry of pictures, all involving ethiopians, their pets, livestock and way of life. We determined this to be the Ethiopian version of the Karma Sutra. On the wall behind Steve, was a picture of a well muscled Ethiopian warrior, whose robe was recklessly parted, showing off his pecs and abs. There is rumoured to be a photo of Drew kissing said warrior. I took one look at the menu, and then let Pam order for our section of the table. Novak ordered for his section, and Drew for the last section. Mark visibly shivered in delight upon hearing Novak order "zilzilwurts". WHilst waiting for the food to arrive, Mark pulled out his souvenirs - badges. THere were eight types - "Oldbie", "Nevermind", "Khangure 98 USA Tour", "Will Throw Robe Recklessly Open For Food", "Enormous Schwanstooka", "RASFWR-J R-US", A Chuck Woolery one, and "Moistened Bint". The food was surprisingly tastey, although opinions varied on the sponge like bread we picked up the food with. After the meal, we wandered over to a bar nearby, and spent the rest of the evening there - drinking and chatting. I'm sure we spoke about really interesting things, but I can't remember any of them. Day 2 We (minus Jim Hill) met at a famous local German Restaurant - Berghoff's - for dinner. Upon requesting a table for 12, the maitre'd was slightly flustered, and requested we line up against one wall, whilst they organised this. There was then a discussion of which wall, and exactly what was a line (we kept wanting to form a circle), which was finally sorted out. Once we were seated, the menu was presented. Deciding to order for myself this time, I picked the most German sounding dish I could see - Bratwurst and Knockwurst with Sauerkraut. This turned out to be sausage and cabbage, but nevertheless it was _German_ sausage and cabbage. After the meal we caught the local 'subway' to the area we wanted to be in. As te Blues Club didn't open until 9pm, we killed an hour or so in a local cafe, where the waitress got very upset when Drew and Novak started continuing someone elses chess game. Once the Blues Club was open, we headed over there, where they carded all of us. (ALthough, the lady took one look at my West AUstralian Driver's License and shrugged in confusion before handing it back). We spent the next 4 hours in there, listening to the music, chatting, and drinking. I seem to have done more of the latter, and again, can't remember what we talked about. However, the club was an excellent choice, and was most enjoyable. Wrapping up about 1am, we made our way back to our respective places of residence. Overall a most enjoyable social, but just wait til Drew posts his interpretation of events, complete with quotes.
