From: Kenneth G. Cavness Subject: TANnish: Chicago DFS Date: 12 Oct 1999 00:00:00 GMT Message-ID: Organization: Like I have any... Newsgroups: rec.arts.sf.written.robert-jordan Okay, after enough people have all responded with the same date, we can nail this down. WHAT: Chicago DFS WHY: Because we can, and you can't whoop us. WHEN: November 13, 1999, starting at 2:00PM WHERE: Uh -- Chicago. Oh, you wanted something a little more specific? We'll begin the social at Emilio's Tapas, located at the intersection of Clark and Fullerton near downtown Chicago. If you need directions, try http://www.mapsonus.com/ or http://www.mapquest.com/. The exact address is 444 W. Fullerton Pkwy. If you'd like to know more about Emilio's Tapas, try http://chicago.sidewalk.com/detail/17422. Don't worry, I haven't pulled this out of my ass. I've been here before, and the food can be pretty terrific. Afterwards, the sky's pretty much the limit. We can do whatever a plurality wants to do. HOW: Plane, train, automobile, jo-car. WHAT I NEED FROM YOU: If you intend to attend, E-MAIL me at kcavness@proxicom.com. If you think you might attend, but just aren't sure yet, hold off until a week before the social, and then let me know. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: Clark and Fullerton can be a _bitch_ to park at, so if you intend to drive in to the city, both Sidewalk.com and I suggest you take advantage of the $6 valet parking available on the Clark side of the restaurant. If you need to arrive early (say, the say before) or stay late (say, the day after), you have some choices. You can stay at my place if I've met you at least once and you didn't go psycho on me at that time. Otherwise, you'll need to find accomodations at the absolutely insane number of hotels in Chicago. If you're just arriving early on the same day, I'm sure we can work something out (including you hanging out at my place until the social is set to begin). If you stay with me, be prepared to have little to sit on, and sleeping on an air mattress. Bring sleeping supplies, because while I have furniture on order, it probably won't have arrived by the time of the social. If you need to stay with me, E-MAIL me at kcavness@proxicom.com; if you'd like some hotel recommendations, E-MAIL me at kcavness@proxicom.com. If you REALLY don't like the restaurant choice I've made, e-mail /dev/null@localhost. If enough people grumble about the time, I will be happy to change it. I'll let everyone know by e-mail who is indicating they will attend. The time will be locked in one week before the social so people can make appropriate plans for the day. If you're coming from out of town, I suggest NOT taking the Eisenhower if you don't have to. It's under major construction at the moment and has horrific traffic. If you're flying into Chicago and would like to be met by someone, E-MAIL me at kcavness@proxicom.com. We'll see what we can do. The following people have indicated an interest in attending: John Novak Pam Korda Bill Garrett Steven Ginter Maggie Brazeau Kenneth Cavness Michael Kozlowski Noell Milota Tim Roeder John (and maybe Annette) Dilick Even if you've already indicated an interest once, please E-MAIL me with your RSVP so that I can begin a mailing list.
