Rolling On The Floor Laughing 9/23/2001 Mmmm....Chicago....mmmmmm...Socials...mmmmm...funny people... So I've been in Chicago since Friday afternoon, and I'm probably not going to be able to eat for the next week or so because I've laughed so hard that my stomach hurts still. I do so love these people! John joined us on Friday night, and we went off in search of dinner. We landed at a Mediterranean place with incredible stuffed grape leaves and spectacular beef kebabs. Oh my. Custard for dessert, smooth coffee and fine company made for a most enjoyable dinner. We followed up with Balderdash at Kenn's, where John promptly and thoroughly beat our asses. He's so good at that game! It was hysterically funny, if for no other reason than that we kept coming up with the most bizarre and silly answers for the questions given. About halfway through the game, John noticed that I was wearing silver glitter eyeshadow and asked if I was turning into a glitter goth on him. I guess with the violet hair, the pink kitty ears that I had inadvertantly left on when we went to dinner (I wore them to make Kenn laugh when we got in) and the glittery eyeshadow...*grin* That just amused the hell out of me, but then, John always does. Last night we attended the Chicago Shakespeare Theater's production of Richard II, thanks to Kenn's wonderful rooommate, Matt. He was able to get discount tickets for us! Hooray Matt! The play was absolutely outstanding, I was quite impressed with the acting and the flow of the story. It was confusing as hell in some parts, but this seems to be about normal with Shakespeare's historical plays. After the play, it was back to Kenn's, where I put the finishing touches on dinner: Beef Stroganoff, Garlic Soup and Black Forest Cake. Dinner seemed to be a rousing success, clean-up, however, was not. We discovered to our dismay that the pipe under the sink was little more than a hole with duct tape on it - and the duct tape had died. Water, water everywhere, and the dog couldn't drink it fast enough! Kenn handled the situation with aplomb, declaring "That's OK, I'm moving in a week!". Hee. I would have had a fit, myself. We stayed up quite late playing Trivial Pursuit. At one point, I was quite certain that Pam and I were going to win, but the team of Stina, John and Kenn pulled it out with a correct answer to a sports question!! AUGH! Many stories were told, many jokes and insults were exchanged, and we all laughed so hard it was a wonder the neighbors didn't call the police on us! We went out for Dim Sum this morning, and stuffed ourselves on yummy little dumplings, rice balls, tender slices of duck and an incredible lotus blossom tea. Mmm...what a way to have breakfast! We played a bit more Balderdash, then Cynthia had to take off. Kenn, Anne and Matt are playing Monopoly, I'm catching up on e-mail and OD and giggling at Kenn singing along to the MP3s playing on Kenn's computer. Anne and I are taking off for home later this afternoon, I can only hope the place will still be standing when I get home!
